Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Billy Sander is the kind of pastor who believes that church should feel a little like a campfire: warm, welcoming, filled with stories, and open to all who wander near. Beginning in July 2025, Pastor Billy is thrilled to join the beloved community at Princeton United Methodist Church, where he hopes to help people not only feel the spark of faith but carry it with them into the world.

Billy is passionate about sharing a Gospel that dances—full of joy, challenge, healing, and grace. With a preacher’s heart and a singer’s soul, he brings sermons that aim to inspire, music that stirs the spirit, and humor that sneaks in like a good punchline after a long week. His path to ministry is paved with both beautiful victories and hard-won lessons—from the early days of singing solos in preschool to preaching about God’s faithfulness after personal tragedy.

He shares life’s winding road with his wife Mary, who’s the steady rhythm to his melody, and their son Jeremiah, an 8-year-old with the imagination of a novelist and the energy of a caffeinated puppy. Add in Duke, their fiercely loyal dog (and occasional sermon illustration), and you’ve got a family that loves deeply, laughs often, and always keeps snacks on hand—just in case a Pokémon duel breaks out mid-devotion.

At Princeton UMC, Pastor Billy dreams of cultivating a church that feels less like an institution and more like a movement—a place where people aren’t just fed spiritually, but equipped to go feed the world with kindness, courage, and the good news of Christ’s love.
